2018 - Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs TWIN PACK


This is the second wine released by Petrichor Wines. This twin pack includes a bottle of each of our 2018 Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs.

Please note that as this fruit was sourced locally and from a minimal chemical input vineyard this wine is not Biodynamic.

2018 Petrichor Pinot Noir - 30% Whole Bunch (Tea Tree)

Made from a single vineyard located in Tea Tree, Coal River Valley, Tasmania.

The one tonne of fruit was hand picked then de-stemmed retaining the whole berries into the fermenter (20% whole bunch). The fruit was cold soaked for almost a week before inoculating fermentation. Gentle plunging during the extended fermentation and then pressed once the wine had fermented ‘dry’. Matured in older french oak barriques the wine was left for 10 months until bottling. Minimal Sulphur. No Fining. No Filtration.

Bottle January 2019. Release date September 2019. Only 808 Bottles produced.


Colour: Bright ruby with purple highlights

Nose: Strawberry, black cherry, hints of vanilla and spice, red currant

Palate: Upfront fruits in the red spectrum - raspberry, strawberry, red currant and cherry with supportive acid profile. Supportive oak characters in the background the wine shows medium length and persistent finish. 

2018 Petrichor Single Vineyard Pinot Noir - 50% Whole Bunch

The 1 tonne parcel of fruit was sourced from a long established vineyard located in Middle Tea Tree in the Coal River Valley. The single clone (777) Pinot Noir was hand picked and then destemmed (retaining 50% whole bunches), cold soaked for a number of days then allowed to undergo wild fermentation in open top fermenter. Gentle hand plunging once daily during an extended fermentation. Once the wine had fermented ‘dry’ it was basket pressed and transferred to older french oak barriques. The wine sat in barrel for 10 months on fine lees. Minimal Sulphur. No Fining. No Filtration. Only 756 Bottles produced


Colour: Cherry, Ruby, clear

Nose: Strawberry, cherry, culinary herbs, spice with some barnyard and forest floor in the background. 

Palate: Cherry, spices, blood plum with well integrated acid. Tannins are incredible fine and mouthfeel quite textural. Light to medium bodied wine with poise. Reductive characters add to the charm of the wine which shows excellent length and persistent and lengthy finish.
